There are many fantastic walks starting right outside your door. You may decide to head for the recently created Cruz de la Reina viewpoint that offers spectacular views of wild and romantic barrancos and the rugged cliffs of the north. Puntagorda is
one of the most beautiful and accessible parts of the island for hiking. Here you can enjoy stunning vistas of the Atlantic or gaze along the coastline as far as the cliffs by the old harbour at Garafía.
Private hiking tours
You can also book private hiking tours with Graja Tours (wandern-auf-la-palma-de). For a truly mystical experience, we recommend the full moon volcano tour. It ends at sunrise on the Volcán de la Deseada, which at 1,942 metres is the highest peak on the
route.
Stargazers
If reaching for the stars is more your thing, you can easily arrange for a top-notch telescope to be set up on the terrace of Gran Atlantico’s Panorama Floor with personal instructions(www.athos.org). The skies above La Palma are well worth a closer
look − it’s no coincidence that the island is home to the largest observatory in the northern hemisphere.
A market with a view
Why not take a weekend stroll through the Mercadillo Puntagorda farmers’ market which is within walking distance of the Villa? Here you can buy wonderfully fresh local produce and handicrafts direct from the producers. We recommend the stall with delicious
olives and sun-dried tomatoes right by the entrance. The translucent skywalks adjacent to the market afford spectacular views of the El Fayal barranco.
